17. Wellness & Leveling Up During the Holiday Season

Two main reasons for this podcast:
- The energetic quantum leap that the holiday season represents – we’re in it now. Bringing awareness to it makes it that much more livable
- Managing the current crises of having limited options of movement and community (mind/body wellness) and the ‘holiday 15’ that then triggers overwhelming anxiety in January – time to stop that when you Choose to.
Current increase in shutdowns, it’s important to create a Routine that will help balance your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
Decide to commit Now, in the Present moment and give yourself the top 3 reasons why you should stick to it.
This is not a mindset challenge or force-feeding yourself out of your comfort zone – this is about Aligning to something sustainable long-term
1. Wellness & leveling up during Holi-day season
The holidays are a huge gateway portal!
a. They represent an opportunity to clear Family Karma and DNA, hence the reason why there is so much anxiety and pressure in the air
b. Add in everything we have all been living, and things get WILD. We are all feeling like pressure cookers, waiting to explore, run, shout and just BE FREE!!!
c. How to cope with the CRAZE:
i. Get fresh air - go outside, ground, spend time in nature
ii. You must move – movement is our medicine
iii. Share with community that ‘GETS YOU’.
iv. Find ways to not hover over the dinner table if that’s what makes you anxiously eat and obsess. What else can you do? What other activities can you share together with loved ones? Build a fire. Create games. Get off technology and into Living Life!
v. Cyclical living! Ladies, go back one episode and learn about how important it is to understand what inner-season you are in and how to honor each of those seasons. When we don’t honor our seasons, we throw off our wellbeing and fall off the wellness train. Then it’s hard to get back on.
How to take advantage of the portals amidst family obligations, expectations, etc.
i. Carving out sacred-self care time and taking responsibility on that deeper level – Prioritize – maybe you can’t stay for 6 hours, maybe you can do 4 because that’s what gives you time to get back home and reset yourself as needed.
ii. Portals require us to show up differently – have a plan of action. Make time before or after your meetings/gatherings to take care of what you need to take care of – this goes back to prioritizing.
e. Understanding the True meaning of Holi-Days and coming back to THAT, outside of black Friday, shopping craze, food, drinks, etc. can we go back to the magic of these portals?
KEY: simplicity is key
I challenge you to do a fruit fast or juice fast, or simply create some healthy, fun and wellness oriented challenges, in and around the holidays, to keep you steady and focused
f. Wellness tips during the Holiday Season:
i. Commit now, don’t wait. It’s a lifestyle. I mean, really, think about it, why do people lose it around desserts and drinks? It’s because they never had a stable foundation in the first place.
ii. There’s no reason to gain weight just because you’re going to parties. If you have a wellness lifestyle, why should it be compromised around others?
iii. It is weird or uncomfortable? It can be! Here’s what I’ve done:
1. I bring my own amazing raw cacao dessert that everyone ends up falling in love with anyway. So now I have a healthy option to eat and I’m also sharing the vibe with others who maybe believe sweet stuff has to have flours, chemicals and random other ingredients.
2. Go prepared. Don’t show up hungry if you know the food there is not complimentary to you. Again, take your own meals to share or eat well before so your sugar levels don’t drop and you’re left with whatever is there to have.
3. Most importantly – OWN IT!! Don’t feel bad for taking a stance for your health!! You’re setting an example whether you know it or not. Most people would love to be able to stay healthy, most especially during the holidays, but for a myriad of reasons they can’t. Without you knowing it, you are showing others, it’s possible.
4. Lastly, balance is KEY. Yes, you can have a drink, a dessert, a delicious & beautifully home cooked meal made with so much love. Enjoy it and know it’s not the end of the world!! Don’t eat like there’s no tomorrow, because there is!! There tends to be this lack mentality like, I have to try everything because if not it’s gone….where did we pick that up?! Make a decision that feels good and healthy in your body and stick to it, without having to judge yourself or go back and forth about your choices.
